The Magic Candles

I mentioned yesterday that a dude that Liz and I know from Connecticut is working on a few stop-motion projects. Dan Anderson, whom we worked with at Wreckless Abandon Studios, is a super talented artist and creator of all sorts of animated content. After some digging around on YouTube, I was able to find some of his work for your viewing enjoyment. Here is teaser for "The Magic Candles", which is a Christmas story.

And here is a commercial that he did on Bull Bags...whatever those are. Check it out brother!

Liz and I are back from Germany, Austria, and Slovenia...thanks for asking. We had a great time, and I'm sure I'll be posting up some pictures from our amazing journey at www.harvatine.com. This isn't the time or place. Let' get caught up on some stop-motion news.

Our great pal Ethan has been plugging away on his project, and he now has a trailer that you must see. Checkout his site here for the trailer, and give the guy some feedback, he works hard for his money.

Our other fellow stop-motion blogger Justin is hard at work on his project, make sure you stop by and check out his stuff here. Talents just seems to ooze from his pores.

And our great friend from CT Dan Anderson has a website up now where he is putting together a team to market his stop-motion project. I remember seeing some of this footage a few years ago, it's really top notch stuff. Check it out here.

There, you're all caught up. Now get out there and support these starving artists!

We finally finished our latest football short featuring Super Bowl XLI, starring the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears. We also shot the opening for what were billing all of these football shorts as....."Stop Action Football". That way we can combine all the football spots that we did for different clients and reasons to share in our unified vision for future shorts.

We are also working on a new website that will house all of these amazing films at www.stopactionfootball.com. That will be our electric football central, so we can stop wasting all of your time with my gridiron rants. This sites about stop-motion bubba!

Take a look at our latest, and let us know what you think. We will switch gears a little after this, but come football season you know we'll be back in action.

A little field with big feelings

Monday, March 12, 2007

We've been busy bees working on the latest Stop Action Football spot, and things are coming along nicely. Here is a picture from the opening shot of Pro Player Stadium in Miami, home of the Dolphins and Super Bowl XLI. We had a team of little elves work round the clock to make those lights light up. Also notice the cute little Super Bowl field...details details details.

We hope to have this wrapped up this week, but don't take my word for it.

Taking You To School

Friday, March 02, 2007

Make Out City Studios has been busy lately working on our latest electric football short, but I thought I would take a minute out of my day and help explain to the folks out there that have no idea what electric football is.

Here's what Websters has to say:

The game is played on a metal field. Plastic players are placed on the field in offensive and defensive formations just like real football. The ball is a small piece of foam or felt in the shape of a football. A switch operates the field. When turned on the field vibrates and the players begin to move.

Each player has a "base" attached to them. The bases have prongs on the bottom that allow the player to move. Rookie bases are not adjustable and the player hopefully runs forward. Pro bases have a dial that you can turn to have players turn to the right or left. This method of controlling game characters through a dial resembles football.

A special player called the Triple Threat Quarterback (TTQ) allows players to pass, punt or kick field goals. The ball has a slit that lets the game player place it on the TTQ's arm. The arm is pulled back and released to pass the ball. For kicking the ball is placed on a tee on the TTQ and a plastic leg snaps to kick the ball.

Are you up to speed yet. For those of you who hate reading, here is an old commercial that illustrates it perfectly. If you don't get it after this, can't help you. No one can.
